After energetic first Sharks wake up and take a bit out of the Islanders

After having another outstanding first period led by Moulson, Tavares, and Okposo the Islanders again came out and slept through the rest of the game coughing it up 3-1. At the start of the second period the Islanders look to have control until Patrick Marleau put through his first goal which he looked to go offsides. Then Ryan Vesce out one through Biron to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead and Setoguich and Thornton would later put the game out of hand in the 3rd. The Islanders are still looking for their first win which hopefully will come at home on Wednesday Night vs. the Carolina Hurrricanes.

Lookin' Good Kid!

So far so good for the Islanders. They're up 1-0 on the Sharks off a Moulson goal which was assisted by Tavares an Okposo. As of right now the Isles are controlling the puck and looking for a potential breakthrough victory against a tough San Jose Sharks squad.

John Tavares scores 3rd goal of the season! (10/16/09)

Islanders v.s. Sabres- Friday, October 16th

Well, how shall I put this....um....the game was very....SLOPPY. After going down 2-0 in the first period to a bankhand goal by the 6'8'' defender Tyler Myers and a penalty shot by Clarke MacArthur, the Islanders just did not have enough fire power to mount a comeback. The 2 goal lead soon grew to 3 after Tim Connolly shot a wrister which flew by Roloson about 4:46 into the second period. The Islanders' Matt Moulson had had enough when he scored later in the second period. However, the Sabres would score, yet again, off a slap-shot by Jochen Hecht, which went five-hole on the sluggish Roloson. Buffalo went on to win 6-3. The upside for the Islanders? John Tavares and Matt Moulson both scored their 3rd goal of the season which helps strengthen the great starting line of Moulson, Tavares, and Okposo. The New York Islanders are now 0-2-3 on the season.

Pre Game Islanders vs. Sabres

Los Angeles Kings 2 vs. New York Islanders 1

The New York Islanders have received three consecutive points in three consecutive games and they looked to keep that streak alive as they faced the Los Angeles Kings. The Islanders played a fantastic first period leading to a let down in the second period where Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty both put in goals where a late Islander attempt lead by Matt Moulson was not enough for the Islanders to come back and win the game. The kings handed the Isles their first regualtion loss of the season. The Isles will have a week off before going head to head in Buffalo Friday night.

Islanders 3 vs. Bruins 4

The Islanders arrived in Boston on Saturday and were ready to take down the Boston Bruins. In goal for his second start of the year was the experienced Dwayne Roloson against Bostans Vassa Turrka Rask. The Islanders jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two by Jon Sim(1), Radek Martinek (1)and John Tavares (2). But in the third the Bruins came roaring back and tied the game and put it into with goals by Savard, Blitz and Hunwick. The Islanders got their third consecutive poitn but failed to pull out the shootout as Rob Schremp was the only Islander to score a shootout goal. Islanders come back home to face the Los Angeles Kings on kids opening day 2pm Monday.

Islanders 2 vs. Senators 3 OT

After coming off a an overtime loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday night the Islanders took to the road to take on the Ottawa Senators. In goal for the Islanders was Martin Biron and in goal for the Ottawa Senators was young gun Pascal LeClaire. Seven minutes into the game Peter Regin and the Ottawa Senators took a 1-0 slamming in a rebound off of Matt Carkner's shot from the point. Who would later of the second goal redirected off his skate. The Islanders would battle back and get an outstanding goal from Kyle Okposo to make the score 2-1 going into the second intermission. The third period opened up with a quick start with Matt Moulson getting the Islanders a piece of the lead. The third period would finish up with some good defensive play leading into a short and dissappointing overtime. Matt Fisher finished off the Islanders giving them a 3-2 win in only 32 seconds of OT. That made the Islanders (0-0-2) Isles will now travel to Boston to take on the Bruins on Saturday night.
